The victims, who range from 20 to 35 years old, included four men and four women, the chief said. All of the deceased were men, Hein said.

Hein said two of the victims were taken to medical facilities in private vehicles, and the rest went by city ambulances.

A motive for the violence and how it unfolded was unclear. No suspect information was available. Hein said officers have been called to the location in the past.

The community is known for its bungalows, which are more than a century old, as well as for its diversity.
