Multiple major wildfires are leaving a trail of destruction and death in the Los Angeles area.

A handful of wildfires that kicked up on Jan. 7, powered by high winds and dry conditions, have exploded in size. As of Monday evening, 24 people had been killed and more than 12,000 buildings and structures have been destroyed. More than 190,000 people are under evacuation orders and warnings and a more than a dozen are missing.

The maps below show the sizes and statuses of the fires. They will be updated frequently.

The largest of the blazes, the Palisades Fire, is more than 37 square miles. That’s more than half the land size of Washington, D.C. A second fire, the Eaton Fire, is now more than 22 square miles.

The Palisades Fire threatens thousands of structures inside the fire’s perimeter.

The Palisades Fire has grown quickly, more than doubling in size within a few hours on Jan. 7.

The fires have led to power outages all over the Los Angeles area.
